This new iteration of the world renowned Peter Lynn Vapor is not only faster than its predecessor, it is also more stable, more reliable, it’s more agile, has better upwind performance and offers a bigger challenge to master its full potential.

Take on the challenge of pushing the limit

The Vapor is a fast kite straight out of the bag, but there is a definitive learning curve to master its potential and push it to it’s limits. As all buggy pilots quickly learn, the key to pushing buggy kites past their ‘out of the bag’ speed limit and performance is brake line tension. The challenge lies in finding the sweet spots for every wind speed.

Giving you the confidence to ride harder than before

Special attention has been given to making the kite as stable as possible and that trait will reveal itself in the more tricky racing situations.
To accomplish this we have incorporated some construction techniques that were unprecedented in kite construction, and set the entire wing to a more arch shaped form.

Rigid wing shape increasing stability, performance and response

By increasing the overall cell count, each cell has become smaller in diameter giving them less room to bulge and/or deform, resulting in an overall slimmer wing as well as an increase in rigidity.
Next to making the kite incredibly responsive to the slightest steering input this improved rigidity also results in the kite maintaining its shape and generated power through turns. This allows you to push harder on even the most complex racetrack. The constant power not only makes you faster through turns it also allows you to accelerate quicker out of any turn, giving you a serious edge over the competition.

Smooth top and bottom skin to reduce drag

Aerodynamics largely determine top speed, this is why our designer has meticulously shaped and fitted each individual panel to make the kite as smooth as possible. To create a smooth wing each panel has been individually designed and formed to bulge out under pressure without creating wrinkles and creases that cause undesirable drag.

Minimized and pressure dependant bridling to reduce drag

Not every bridle line gets to endure the same level of pull; the A and B rows take the highest load, the C and D rows the lowest. Therefore we have found it is possible to reduce the diameter of the C row bridle lines even further without weakening the overall bridle strength. Furthermore our designer has managed to reduce the number of bridle cascades (bridle groups) from 5 to 4 per side. This was accomplished both by eliminating the secondary bridle lines, and by using *Bridge rib technology* which makes it possible to skip 4 cells between bridle connection points. * read more about bridge tech in the designer notes below

Built to withstand the tests of time

The very best construction techniques and highest quality materials have been used to give you a kite that will last longer than the competition. Double needle stitching on every seam, bridle points that are not only Dacron reinforced but also secured into the seams, carefully balanced spacing between cross-vents to prevent wear/stretch induced deformation and the list goes on. All these build characteristics are there to ensure there is no performance loss occurring over time.

Now, after 4 years of thorough research and testing we are extremely proud to introduce the new benchmark in high performance fixed bridle design.

 

Balanced brake line input
The new Vapor responds somewhat different than it’s predecessor in this regard.
While in the original Vapor the brakelines were mostly just used for steering, the brakes in the new Vapor also determine the kites power.
Once you find the ‘sweet spots’ for a certain wind speed, you’ll know this is a kite without competition.
Finding this ‘sweet spot’ is a very fine balancing act in all high end race kites, that requires the pilot to get perfectly in tune with his/her kite.
The Vapor presents this challenge without making you feel out of control or without having you fear that the kite may collapse or stall at any moment.

 

Unequaled stability
In order to win any race one needs to be able to focus on finding the ideal track without having to worry about the kite.
To this end our designer has created a kite that will stay in shape and in the air no matter what your course may be.
One good example is the upwind turn. Sometimes upwind turns require riding upwind to round the next buoy, while you’d normally have to tack to be able to make these turns, the new Vapor completely eliminates that need, enabling you to round these upwind turns faster than the competition.
Be amazed by how the kite simply stays in shape and in the air while it carries you through.

 

Adaptive cross-vents
To ensure a clean airflow inside the kite and a fast recovery, all profiles and D-ribs have cross-vents in them.
The most important function of cross-vents is equalizing the air pressure inside the kite; the better the cross-vents are positioned the easier a kite can recover after a collapse.
To maximize the effect of the cross-vents without compromising the structural integrity of the wing, our designer has carefully arranged the lay out of the cross-vents.
The ‘loaded’ profiles (the profiles with bridle attachment points) need to be strong and resilient therefore have fewer holes, whereas the ‘unloaded’ profiles have a lot more holes.

 

Tension strap
The tension strap is a technology that has been used in Peter Lynn Twinskin designs for over 15 years. Its function is to reduce the load/tension on the bottom skin of the kite while still allowing the bottom skin to bulge.
In the Vapor you will find that the tension strap only covers the middle 4 cells.
This is due to the fact that the middle 4 cells divide the left and right and are least supported by bridling which results in a much greater force on these 4 cells.
In turn, all other cells do not need the extra support of a tension strap as they are sufficiently supported by the bridling.
